Celtic Cross

The Celtic Cross is another example of Christianity adopting Celtic Symbols. Studies suggest this symbol has been around thousands of years longer than Christianity. Older versions of the Celtic Cross are known as the Sun Cross, the Wheel Cross, and Odin’s Cross, and the four points are thought to represent the cardinal directions or the four elements of earth, fire, air, wind, and water. The Christian legend explains St. Patrick blessing a Celtic Circular stone with a cross, thus combining both cultures. In modern times, Irish revere the Celtic Cross as a symbol representing both their Celtic and Christian Ancestry.
