St. Valentine

Posted by Nancy Morrall on 13th Feb 2017

It seems as Ireland has a connection to everything and Valentine's Day should be no exception!

St. Valentine,The patron saint of love, has some of his remains laid to rest at the Whitefriar Street church in Dublin.   Yes, you read that correctly.  Some of his remains stayed in Rome, where he was killed in the 3rd century.

In 1950, a statue and shrine were built to honor St. Valentine, and placed in the church.  Visitors from all over come to visit the church and pay homage to the patron saint. It is a gathering place, especially the week of St. Valentine's Day, for visitors to pray for help in finding their perfect match.
